Delivering for Waterford

Dungarvan Community Hospital was officially opened on 2 September 2010 at a capital cost of €10million. The new 32 bed unit replaces the existing St Vincent’s District Hospital and links with the long-term care and rehabilitation services provided at St Joseph’s Hospital.
More than € 82 million has been provided in capital funding for school building and modernisation projects in Waterford between 2002 an 2009.
Waterford Institute of Technology is to benefit from a €2.5m funding award under Cycle 5 of the Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions (PRTLI).
Phase 2 of the N9 Waterford to Knocktopher was opened on the 22nd march 2010, a 23.5km stretch of high quality dual carriageway, between Waterford city bypass and Knocktopher.
In 2009 the N25 Waterford City Bypass was opened 10 months ahead of schedule bringing significant benefits to the people of South Kilkenny, Waterford City and County.
Currently there are 31 IDA Ireland supported companies in Waterford City and County employing approximately 5,960 people.
Key interventions in support of attracting investment in recent years have been the development of the Waterford Business & Technology Park (28 hectares), the Dungarvan Business Park (additional 14 hectares developed) and a large scale 55 hectare Greenfield site in Belview, specifically targeted for larger scale utility intensive overseas investments.
